November is sinking to a close and oh dear what a wet one. Most of my garden appreciation has been from an armchair looking out of a rain sodden window. Thank goodness for the Mahonia with its bright yellow scented flowers. It brightens up the bottom of a dismal corner and even the honey bees are seeking it out despite the lateness of the year.

The maple and succulents have kept the garden going with colour and interest. Most of the leaves have now departed the branches. Odd dry moments have been spent busily sweeping up copious magnolia leaves and putting them to compost.
Seed heads and grasses are bleaching out. The odd rays of sun catching them beautifully as they come to the end of their garden year.Fortunately colour is coming from the Skimmia and the beautiful Rugosa rose.
Lots still to tackle out there and hopefully we will have a dry few weeks ahead. Meanwhile the birds are making the most of the seed heads and grasses.
