Halloween: Original Michael Myers Actor Open to Returning for Sequel

Nick Castle, the original Michael Myers actor, is open to returning for a sequel to David Gordon Green's Halloween. Castle was involved in a few scenes for the latest entry in the long-running slasher series, but most of the role was handled by James Jude Courtney. However, despite Halloween being a box office success, as well as being positively-received by fans and critics alike, there has yet to be an official announcement regarding a sequel.

After being away for nearly a decade, Michael Myers returned to the big screen in the latest Halloween sequel, slashing his way back into the horror genre. Halloween serves as a direct sequel to John Carpenter's 1978 classic film, creating yet another timeline in the long-running franchise. Taking place 40 years later, the movie follows Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), who has never recovered from the encounter she had with Michael. As a result, she has been prepping for his inevitable return ever since. The film also stars Will Patton, Miles Robbins, Jibrail Nantambu, Virginia Gardner, Andi Matichak, Toby Huss, Judy Greer, and now, despite there being no official word on a sequel, Castle has made it clear that he is open to starring in yet another Halloween film.

In an interview with Comic Book, Castle revealed that he would be open to reprising his role in a sequel, adding that he would like Curtis and Green to return as well. That said, he clarified that his enthusiasm towards returning would depend on the follow-up's story, saying, "It would depend, I guess, if I like what they came up with, 'cause you do, in a crazy way, feel a little responsibility in these things, because if you do it, then you're saying, 'Yeah, go see it.' So we'll see what they come up with."

Castle isn't the only cast member looking to come back, as Curtis has also shown interest in being involved with a future film. Curtis hadn't appeared in the franchise since 2002's, Halloween: Resurrection, so her involvement only heightened the anticipation for the latest project. Carpenter, who directed the original film and scored Green's recent entry, has stated he would return to score a sequel, but an official decision has not yet been made - despite Halloween's ending inevitably leaving the door open for more installments.

Despite the series past missteps, Halloween was a return to form for the beloved franchise, and fans of the series who patiently awaited another film were finally given a worthy follow-up to the original movie. Moving forward, a return from Castle would be welcomed, though fans shouldn't expect him to be the sole actor portraying Michael. The success of last years film proves there's still money to be made from the knife-wielding maniac, so it should only be a matter of time before Michael makes his way back into theaters.
