Hi girls,
you know I'm always looking for a foundation that provides high coverage but that doesn't look cakey. Although with my skin type I would probably be better off with something mineral or BB, I still found some high street foundation (and one slightly high end) that fulfill my needs. All these foundations provide a comfortable, dry and natural finish without having to blot too much. My current favorite now is the one by Clinique. I have AGS which is a hormonal condition of which one of the symptoms is slightly oily skin. I know what it feels like having to blot all day and ending up with the foundation, the oils and the powder cakeing. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have acno on my skin and cheeks now and then. I read some great tips how not to look cakey, e.g. shaking the bottle, applying a thin layer where I can, not blotting right after application, blotting with tissue or blotting sheets before using powder ALWAYS, because powder and oils don't mix, so I won't even try to soak up oils with my fabric powder applicators... and applying a fine powder with a soft brush rather than applying it with said applicators. It's hard to get used to not using a fabric applicator for powder because it felt so soft and even on my skin, but I got too many comments that I looked cakey. Now that I'm using loose powder with a brush I look a lot more natural. A final tip is to shave the fluff off of your face so that makeup looks more flawless and can hold onto skin better, and powder doesn't show a white hue over the face.
1. L'Oreal True Match

I've tried different foundation by L'Oreal and they all seemed a bit too oily, except for this new formula. It comes with a handy skin tone code with the letter C, N and W for cool, neutral and warm tones. For example: C1 is the coolest and lightest shade, W5 is a warm and darker shade. This foundation gives perfect coverage while only needing a small amount of product. The product dries like a souple film and stays in place all day.
2. Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse

For very oily skin with a lot of imperfections that don't hold onto any liquid formula, mousse foundation is the answer. Moisturise any dry flakes and apply just a small amount of mousse with a stippling foundation brush for a natural, airbrushed effect. A light amount of loose powder will stop it from shifting.
3. Maybelline SuperStay 24h

Just like the L'Oreal foundation, this one dries like a souple film around the skin. It also comes with a good light ivory shade for our porcelain friends. It also comes with SPF19.
4. Clinique Stay Matte

Even on a high street budget I recommend trying the Clinique Stay Matte Foundation. It's a light formula but still is very pigmented and promises to keep you fresh looking during the day. The shades blend well into the skin. I'm quite ivory but my body has been tanning and I find the shade 11 Honey to fit me pretty well. I've gotten copiments of looking healthier and having eyes that pop. I finish with the Clinique loose powder and people say I already look way less cakey as when I do with pressed powder. After a few hours I don't feel like I need to blot already. The foundation also provides great coverage, coming from someone who has a few spots and scars at the moment.
