If you've been reading my blog for a while you know how much I've struggled with finding the perfect nude lipstick shade for medium/tan skin. I always try to find different beauty products that would flatter WoC and inform my readers the best lipsticks, blushes, bronzers, etc. for my skin tone or deeper. I try to speak up about why the beauty industry is flawed in its lack of diversity and how they need to change. Thankfully, brands like Mented Cosmetics and Fenty Beauty are stepping up to the plate and filling in that need, something the mainstream beauty industry has refused to do for decades.
When Kylie's lips became the talk of the town in 2014, I searched high and low for the perfect shade that would flatter both of us, seeing that I am a few shades darker than Kylie. I've purchased MAC in "Velvet Teddy", Maybelline in "Touch of Spice", Gerard Cosmetics in "1995", ColourPop in "Lumiere", and none of them looked good on me at all. Kylie launched her own beauty line in 2015 to sell shades similar to what she wears. That mauve-y pink you see her rock on a regular basis is super popular, but I am happy that her beauty products are WoC-friendly.
When Kylie releases new liquid lipsticks, she has featured models of deep skin tones (similar to Lupita Nyong'o) wearing them. She has also featured tan skinned ladies, similar to mine. That's how I know she embraces diversity and that I can trust that her brand will have a shade for me.
Since Kylie Cosmetics only sells online, I took a risk buying the nude shades because there is always a chance that they would not flatter my skin tone. I steer cleared away from anything that was too pale or too cool-toned. I am happy to say that I found 3 gorgeous nude lipsticks for medium/tan skin that I want to recommend to you ladies.
Kylie Matte Liquid Lip in "Brown Sugar"
Described as a "true yellow brown", this shows up more as a sandy nude on my lips. But it's anything but boring or ghostly. It's more neutral on me with a bit of yellow undertone, but you can see that it contrasts against my skin rather than blending in with it (which is what I unfortunately experience with most nude lipsticks). This is gorgeous for everyday wear, paired with some pinkish coral blush. I am really pleasantly surprised with this! This shade here screams 90s.
Kylie Matte Liquid Lip in "Ginger"
Ginger
Even though I love all of the shades featured, this one has got to be my favorite. This is described as a "warm terracotta brown", and it's a lighter version of her Pumpkin liquid lipstick. I still get pumpkin spice vibes from this though! It's universally flattering to wear all year round, and it really warms up my face.
Rosie
The photos may appear that this shade is bright pink, but on my lips it's a more muted, medium rose. It's so girly and perfect for everyday wear. I can see this as being my spring staple for next year. This is described as a "warm medium rose". Unlike the other 2, this is a "velvet matte" formula. It still lasts insanely long (like hours, even with eating), but it's a tad more comfortable and less drying.

Top–bottom: Brown Sugar, Ginger, Rosie
I know that Kylie is a kontroversial kharacter (I mean, look at the news everywhere regarding her pregnancy...) but I really do love her lip products. They are drying, but more comfortable to wear than the ColourPop Ultra Mattes, and they last forever without needing to touch up. Even though Kylie is a white woman, I love how she made lip shades with women like me in mind.
